Dixon is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Carl Lumbly is joining Marvel Studios’ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier for Disney+. Lumbly will appear in an as-of-yet unannounced role.
The series, which follows the popular Avengers characters played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, is filming now in the Atlanta area, with a premiere set for August on the popular streaming service.
There is a possibility that Lumbly will portray Isaiah Bradley, aka the “Black Captain America.” According to the Marvel Comics, Bradley was one of the original test subjects of the Super Soldier program during World War II, which eventually created Captain America.
Lumbly already has a history portraying DC Comics characters. Recently, he starred on the CW’s “Supergirl” as M’yrnn J’onzz, the father of J’onn J’onzz the Martian Manhunter. Previously, Lumbly voiced Martian Manhunter in the animated series “Justice League.”
Genre fans will also remember Lumbly as the star of the sci-fi series “M.A.N.T.I.S.,” which aired on Fox in the mid 1990s and was created by Sam Raimi.

Lumbly has recently appeared on “This Is Us,” “God Friended Me,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “Altered Carbon.”
His film credits include Buckaroo Bonzai, Men of Honor, and the recent sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, where he portrayed Dick Hallorran, a character played by Scatman Crothers in the original film.
In addition to Mackie and Stan, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier also stars Emily VanCamp, who reprises the role of Sharon Carter, and Daniel Brühl, who returns as Zemo.
Joining the cast is Wyatt Russell, who will appear as John Walker, aka the USAgent.
